One Week After the Ponapean Language Meeting

In the week since the Ponapean language meeting, Susan decided to attend English meetings with her family until the next Ponapean language meeting. This morning, she made it with Sasa. Susan wants to train her in Jehovah's ways and knows it will be easier to start while she is young. Sasa is a very active child. She did remarkably well at the meeting this morning.
Yoko Kono and I started a study the week before the meeting with a lady named Malani. We'll have our second study tomorrow. Yuli, Susan's neighbor that attended the Ponapean language meeting has agreed to study as well. Another family that had faltered a bit in their study habits wants to study regularly again.
The meeting was quite a blessing for those whose first language is Ponapean as we have seen from just one week after!

Ponapean Language Meeting!!

The second meeting in the Ponapean language was held on August 14. There were several brothers visiting from Pohnpei, so it was time! 45 were present, including 19 Bible students. The talk was about how knowing Jehovah can contribute to a successful family life. These photos are of most everyone. We missed a few, but we'll get their pictures at the next meeting we have.

Chalcee commented several times. It's so nice to hear someone's student participate.

Speaker: Ken Rivera; Watchtower Study conductor: Tatsuo Kono; Chairman: Mike Pyle

We had only met Yuli twice before Sunday. She elbowed me during the talk to tell me that Ken's Ponapean is 'really good.' She and her children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Our Little Guy

Well, Friday was the last day of our year with Jeremiah. He starts school on Monday. We're going to miss him very much...like seeing him smile and introduce himself to householders when we're in the ministry, racing to see who can get seatbelted first in the car, singing along to the Kingdom songs (he knows the words to almost all of the songs on the vocals CDs 1 and 2), holding our feet tight to the floor because he likes to tickle them, waiting for him to leap out of a great hiding place in our home and seeing him be so thrilled that he made us jump and/or scream, seeing him be so pleased with himself when he's done something well and try again when he wants to do better, and hugging him tight. It's not that we won't still be able to do all of this together, it just won't be as often.

Classmates

Jeremiah and Ednes both start kindergarten on Monday. This should be interesting!

Spiderman

Ednes quietly announced that he was Spiderman, but we're not sure how great this vantage point is.

School Time = Doctors and Shots

Jeremiah and Jimmy listened intently as the doctor told them to brush their teeth, eat their vegetables, drink water instead of sugary drinks and listen to their mother.

Reading Material, Anyone?

During this month, we've had occasion to spend time in a doctor's office with one of our students. We noticed a magazine rack with several issues of the Watchtower and Awake! magazines in it. Would someone read them and if so, which ones would they choose? After about 10 minutes, our question was answered and then a few minutes later, it was answered again...

Visitors and More Visitors

Iosia Family
Susan, Taitai, Taigan, Uatea, Seiko
The Iosia family is from Ebeye. Ebeye is a tiny slip of land with about 15,000 people living on it.http://www.abc.net.au/foreign/content/2009/s2640127.htm
Taitai and Susan are working hard to raise their lovely children to love Jehovah. They were able to attend the district convention and share in the ministry while they were here. Megan and Emily got to spend a day with them. What a treat for us!
Susan had a heartwarming discussion with Artiko in their language, Marshallese. We are hoping that it will motivate Artiko to continue progressing toward her spiritual goals.
Sean and Kathy Miller are missionaries in Kosrae. They had been conducting a progressive Bible study with Hid and Nica. A few months ago, Hid and Nica moved to Guam. They were all able to visit, study and attend meetings together during Sean and Kathy's visit. We are so thrilled to be able to continue studying with Hid and Nica.
Joel, Nora and Jasmine Puyat were here too. We all spent a fun evening at the Flores' home. The Puyats and Flores have known each other for many years in Saipan.

Guam District Convention

You may have noticed that Wilson is conspicuously missing from these photos. About a month ago, he had a massive stroke. It left him unable to speak, swallow or move. He wanted so much to attend the convention. We missed him very much.
