The prison had been on lockdown for over three weeks. Among other things, all religious meetings were cancelled. The lockdown was lifted the day of the Memorial!! Glenn and Patti, our circuit overseer and his wife, were able to attend too. What a day of blessings for these dear ones!
Usually, no cameras are permitted, but they allowed it this time!
This photo is of our brothers, sister and Bible students that attend the meetings at the Department of Corrections (DOC), except for one who is not able to attend currently. They are, from the left, Mike, Sidney, Joe, Marianne, Vince, Derrick, Jun, JoJo, Robert, Jonathon, Ed, and Kin.
Do you see the young man front and center with the enormous smile?! Hard to miss him! This is Derrick. Well, about six months ago, he looked like a different person. He was VERY shy. He was not able to look at people in the eye and he didn't smile much. He was given a copy of the Young People Ask book. He immediately read the portions about shyness and started putting the suggestions into practice. Since then, he has joined the Theocratic Ministry School and given three Bible readings. He has asked for Chinese literature to give to the ladies that come in and work in the kitchen. He has been telling them about what he has been learning. We are proud of him and look forward to seeing continued progress.
Patti, Jessica, Marianne and Emily--The sisters who were at the Memorial.Glenn, Tim, Vince, Joe, Jonathon, Mike and John--The brothers who attended the Memorial.
With 6 from the outside attending, 5 baptized from the inside attending, 22 attended that were either Bible students or interested ones. Three new ones who attended the Memorial came to the meeting the next night and have started their personal Bible studies.
