Family Worship

Joanne and her kids invited us to family worship night. They were preparing for service the next day, so everyone practiced what to say. What a great night!

You just never know

This is one of the the most exciting experiences we had...When we were leaving Guam, one of our students met us at the airport. We took a photo of their family to take to their family in Pohnpei. The wife's grandmother studies with Masehda (You'll see photos in another post.), but the husband's mother has a history of being very opposed. In fact, their home is three doors down from the Kingdom Hall, but she would not allow her daughter-in-law to attend any meeting when she lived in Pohnpei. Well, when we took their photo, the husband said to take a copy to his mother. His wife's eyes about popped out of her head.
We took the photo the first time we went in service, but no one had time to visit. During the next few weeks, we prayed about this situation and had discussions with a few sisters trying to figure out what would be a good way to go about any future visits.
Helen and I were out together a few days before we left. I told Ella that I had a gift for her, a Paipel Padahngki book. She smiled, but said she couldn't read it because her eyes are bad. The three of us had a very nice conversation about how, if we think and feel like God, it will affect how we treat each other. She said it would be okay to return with a larger print of the book.
Helen and I returned with a print out of the first chapter of the book off  of jw.org. Here are photos of her first study. She told Helen that she needs to learn about God and asked what his name is. She said that as a Catholic, she doesn't know anything about the Bible and is looking forward to learning. When we showed these photos to her daughter-in-law here in Guam, she teared up and thanked Jehovah.

An Amazing Day with Hiroshi and Masehda

These are only a few of the pictures and experiences from our day in service with Hiroshi and Masehda. We won't soon forget their love for Jehovah and zeal in the ministry.

This man is the brother of a man we study with in Guam. Hiroshi visits him and his wife. As we were all talking about the fact that there is no hellfire, the wife said that is was good news! Below is their daughter and grandkids.

This man was cleaning at his church. He served in the US military for 8 years. He was pleased to receive the Watchtower in Ponapean and English. January 2013 is the first time the cover articles of both are the same.

John and Hiroshi went to one home for a return visit. Masehda spotted some people home next to where we were parked, but told me to wait in the car. She never did that before. About two minutes after she left, this lady, Yolanda, approached the car and asked what I was doing. I told her I was waiting for my friends. She pressed the issue. I told her we are Jehovah's Witnesses. She recognized the Kahn Iroir (Watchtower) and said she received her first one about a month before. She invited me to come over to her sakau bar/bingo area and we started studying the Bible Teach book.  She works at the bank in town and said she would be available to study at lunch. She doesn't live in the area we were parked in. She just happened to be there when we were.

We ended this day because we ran out of literature--it took 7 hours! At one stop, Hiroshi came back to the car and said the man chose 15 Watchtowers to read, saying that the man really likes to read!

One Beautiful Day with Joanne

This was the first time Joanne met this lady. We both like this photo, not just for the big grins they both have on their faces, but they are in a traditional home with a huge, flatscreen TV in the background.

the eels of kitti

The kids took John to see the eels and they didn't disappoint!

Local Beauty

This bright little bird loves his own reflection and can be found hovering around the mirrors or windows of a car admiring himself.

Look closely, there is a kingfisher in the middle of the tree. I was hoping he would turn around so you could see his brilliant blue back and he did.

One Big Day

We all headed out to Madolenihmw for a day of service. What fun!
We were sent out by fives to this family!

Joy gave her presentation to this man.
And John tried out a little Ponapean too.

We all met up at Net for a swim and dinner. It got dark. It rained, but it didn't matter.

I wish you could see the cute, little sister making faces and sounds to get this little one to laugh.
(Please see two pictures above--the sister in the blue shirt!)

JD, the young man in the middle was baptized two weeks ago.
