At the last Special Assembly Day in Pohnpei, Fanery was baptized. What a happy day for everyone, especially her mom, Elwihna.

Just Another Day's Work

One Saturday, the leaning power pole that was in front of the Kingdom Hall was moved. John and Enos, the man from PUC, are happy the day went so smoothly.

Grillmaster

Adela shows off a piece of banana tree used as a barbeque sauce brush. She, her sister, Audrey, and friend, Aileen cooked chicken for the crew. YUM!

Hedges

Hedges is the young man on the right. He is from Chuuk and is attending college in Pohnpei. He visited the Kingdom Hall a couple of weeks ago. He and Barak discovered that they are from the same village in Chuuk.

Where do you live?!!

About two months ago, Norma (3rd from left) accepted a Truth tract at her place of work. Three weeks later, we went back to eat. She saw us and said she was so happy to see us. Why? Because of what she had been given to read! We showed her the Bible Teach book in Ponapean. She was very happy to see it. When a Bible study was offered, she readily accepted, but only if someone came who speaks Ponapean. No problem!
Carmella was very happy to do this.

To get to her home, we drove for about a 1/2 hour, then walked about a 1/2 hour and just when you think you must be getting close, because the road ends at a man in a hammock with a pig and a dog, he says the family lives 'over there', pointing toward the mangroves. When the tide is out, a person must walk through the mangrove mud (top photo of Itrashield and Carmella) to get to their home.

Nancy, Norma, Itrashield and Carmella are studying together for the first time one Wednesday evening. This was an evening I will not soon forget.

Because of my son, we are friends...

Early in our visit to Pohnpei, a nine year old boy, Sidney, was curious about what was happening at the home the construction group rented. Emily began to speak with him and discovered that he likes to read and enjoys knowing things about the Bible. She gave him her English copy of the Learn from the Great Teacher book. He started to tell his Mom, Reena, about Paradise. She thought it sounded good too. She accepted a Bible study. (She is in the top photo facing the camera.) The last time they studied, Reena told Emily that her son is very special and that because of him, they are friends.

Her friend, Ino (whose back is to the camera), sat in on Reena's study twice. She lives with a relative that is a Witness and comes to the meetings from time to time. Two weeks ago, she agreed to have a study of her own. The second photo is of Leona and Ino studying together for the first time as her son, Kelvin, looks on.

The last photo is of Carmen. She is the great-niece of Ino and followed along in her Ponapean Bible Teach book during Ino's study.

Privileges

This is Hiroshi. He and his wife are among the first persons on Pohnpei to accept the truth in the 1960s. They are both regular pioneers. We were able to share a delightful day in service with him.

Smile for the Camera!

Marain, our smallest photog, takes a picture of Michelle, one of the 'need greater' sisters that have moved to Pohnpei. Lexi approves.

Kicking the Bucket

After the concrete pour, we still had a crane bucket in the back of a brother's truck we've been using. The boys dropped the girls off at Telecom and then went snorkeling. We know how to travel in style!

Gum!

This is pandanas. You chew it like sugarcane, getting all the sweetness out, then spit out the strawlike fibers.Posted by Picasa
